BIO
Lilac Madar (born 1975, Haifa) earned her BFA in photography from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, in 2000. She holds an MA in Art History Research from Tel Aviv University (2014) and a certificate in art education from Kerem Institute, Jerusalem, in 2018.
Madar’s art draws inspiration from the strategies of Dada and Pop Art, employing techniques such as collage and ready-made, with references to mass culture. Her creative process involves transforming found objects into assemblages, sculptures, and installations. The nature of her art often requires the engagement and participation of viewers. Her works address social and political issues with wit, sarcasm, and humor.
Madar's work has gained international recognition, with exhibitions held globally. Her pieces have found a place in museum and private art collections. Madar has received numerous scholarships, participated in art residencies, and is actively involved in collage history research and education. She is currently engaged in a large-scale performance production in Central Park, New York, in 2025.
