About PoppyPink
PoppyPink is an ongoing, site-specific performance art project initially created to mark the one-year memorial of October 7th. It raises awareness of the Israeli hostage crisis and advocates for human rights. The performance premiered in Central Park, New York, in October 2024. The artist wore a hand-knitted pink dress that unraveled as she walked, leaving a trail of pink thread symbolizing shared grief. It invites reflection on the collective impact of trauma and the ongoing journey of healing.
We pray for the safe return of the hostages and for peace in the Middle East and the world.

PoppyPink Dress
Crafted by acclaimed fashion designer Haya Nir, renowned for her iconic boutique Katomenta and her volunteer work with Ayin Tova supporting October 7 evacuees, the PoppyPink dress symbolized resilience, hope, and healing. Composed of 2,530 feet of knitted yarn, representing the 253 individuals abducted from Israel to Gaza, this pink dress was displayed at the Jewish Museum in New York before the performance. During its exhibition, visitors were invited to express solidarity, offer prayers, and engage with the project’s message. As the fiscal sponsor, the Jewish Museum actively supported PoppyPink, hosting a special reception to honor its cultural and humanitarian significance. Director James Snyder shared words at the event, further emphasizing the importance of this impactful initiative.
